Five Teenagers Arrested for Auto Theft at Great Mall

Police caught teenagers in a stolen 1991 Honda Accord Tuesday.

On Tuesday evening, five teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of auto theft at the Great Mall, Milpitas Police said Wednesday.

At 5:37 p.m., a Milpitas Police officer was flagged, and advised of an automobile burglary that had just occurred in the parking lot of the Burlington Coat Factory.

The officer located two people matching the description of the burglars seated in a 1991 Honda Accord nearby.

The officer determined that they were burglarizing the Accord, and they were both arrested.

Witnesses then provided information about three more possible subjects that fled prior to the officer’s arrival. They were then located at the Milpitas VTA Light Rail station, and detained for questioning.

Upon further investigation, officers determined that the five teenage boys – who ranged in age from 13 to 17 -- had arrived at the Mall in the car, stolen from San Jose earlier that day. Two of them had outstanding warrants for their arrest.
