Milpitas Mosque Hosts Faith Discussion

The world's major religions and their spiritual leaders were topics of weekend event.

The Awaited One in World Faiths: An Informative Discussion 

March 25, Sunday: More than 200 men and women gathered in Baetul Baseer Mosque in Milpitas to participate in an interesting and informative discussion on the topic of the awaited spiritual leaders and reformers in various world religions.

The event was sponsored and arranged by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Silicon Valley. Four presenters – Daud Chaudhry, Ghulam Sarwar, Irfan Ahmad, and Imam Mubasher Ahmad explained the beliefs of major world religions -- Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, explaining the expectations, the time and signs of their Awaited Ones.

The Hindus are waiting for reincarnation of Kalki Avatar, the Buddhists expect Maitreya – a future Buddha to appear, the Jews look forward to their Messiah, the Christians believe in the Second Coming of Jesus, and the Muslims count on Al-Mahdi, and among Muslims, the Shi’a are waiting for the Hidden Imam.

The conclusion was that the time, as predicted in various scriptures was ripe, and most probably it could be one and the same person, but with different names and titles, who was to appear in Latter Days.

The panel of the presenters responded to several enquiries made by the audience during a lively question-answer session. Among the invited guests, Jose Esteves, the Mayor of Milpitas, was also present.
