Milpitas Rotary's Camp RYLA Ice Cream Feast

Milpitas Rotarians scooped 30 gallons of ice cream Thursday, August 8 at Rotary's District 5170 Camp RYLA, an annual 5-day leadership retreat for local Silicon Valley area high school juniors and seniors numbering around 220 plus their leaders, staffers, family members, and Rotary officials including many Past District Governors.

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) this year was held at Mission Springs in Scotts Valley instead of YMCA Camp Campbell in Ben Lomond. And Mission Springs has marvelous accommodations.

The evening began with an energetic assembly to recognize all those, who assisted and contributed to this year's RYLA programs. The Milpitas Rotary Club sponsored three students and supplied ice cream and volunteers.

A delicious barbeque dinner was then served consisting of salad, corn on the cob, BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, turkey burgers with fixin's and beverages.

Dessert followed consisting of ten ice cream flavors including Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate, Rocky Road, Blackberry, Pistachio, and more. Generous portions of strawberries, Reese's Pieces, Oreo Cookies, and chocolate syrup were among the wide array of delicious toppings.

Afterward the crowd went on to dance the night away.
