536,558 Ballots Mailed to Voters in Santa Clara County

Vote by mail voters will begin receiving their ballots in the next few days.

Santa Clara County absentee voters, check your mailboxes in the next few days.

On Monday, the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters’ Office mailed out 536,558 vote by mail ballots for the November 6 Presidential Elections.

Monday also marked the beginning of early voting, meaning that voters also have the option of casting ballots at the ROV Office in San Jose rather than waiting until Election Day to do so in person.

For the vote by mail option, Santa Clara County uses paper optical scan ballots, in which voters complete their ballots by connecting the arrow next to their selection with a single, unbroken line.

“Voters should be careful not to make any stray or extraneous marks on their ballot, including their name or initials,” said Elma Rosas, a spokeswoman from the ROV office, pointing out that voters must also use blue or black ink.

It’s also important for voters to sign the Vote by Mail envelope for their votes to be counted, the ROV Office said.

Vote by mail ballots can also be delivered to the ROV Office, 1555 Berger Drive, Building 2 in San Jose, or any of the City Clerk Offices in the county or the Santa Clara County Government Center at 70 W. Hedding Street, San Jose, during normal business hours.

There is a 24-hour drop-box located near the flagpole outside of the ROV Office for voters’ convenience, said Rosas.

Voters can track the status of their Vote by Mail ballots online at the Registrar of Voters’ website, www.sccvote.org.
