8-Hour Power Outage Hits Milpitas Sunday Night

More than 1,100 customers were left without power between 9 p.m. Sunday night and 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning when a piece of equipment failed, PG&E spokespersons said.

Power has been restored this morning to all but about 60 customers in the Milpitas area after an eight-hour outage, a PG&E spokeswoman said.

Power was restored to all but 62 customers by 5:20 a.m. after the outage began Sunday night around 9:25 p.m. Power had been down for 1,129 customers, spokeswoman Jana Morris said. The remaining 62 customers are expected to have power restored shortly.

A piece of equipment appears to have failed near Marylinn Drive and North Main Street, Morris said. The area affected included North Abbott Avenue, San Andreas and La Honda drives, Glenmoor Court, Glenmoor Circle, and Coyote and Pescadero streets.
