Photo of the Day: Exchange Students Bid Farewell to Milpitas

Twenty-nine exchange students, including two who stayed with Milpitas families, are heading to the southern part of the state.

After spending two weeks in Northern California, 29 exchange students from Latin America and Europe are traveling to Southern California for their last two weeks in the United States.

Of the 29 students who came to California through the Lions Club International Youth Exchange Program, stayed with host families in Milpitas. The rest of the students stayed with families in Nevada City, Grass Valley, Fairfield, Auburn, Crocket, Walnut Creek, and Baypoint, according to Executive Lions Club Youth Exchange Chair Marie Pham.

Twenty-seven Japanese students who are also participating in the youth exchange program will be making their way to the U.S. in early August. Lions Club International chapters from Folsom, Sacramento, Fairfield and Baypoint will be hosting the students, Pham said.
