Four Compete in Milpitas Rotary Club's Speech Contest

Milpitas High School participants participated in a 'Peace Through Service' presentation.

The Milpitas Rotary hosted their Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest for Milpitas High School students chaired by Superintendent Cary Matsuoka.

Four MHS Juniors, Vikram Sastrip, Jon Ngo, Pranay Patni, and Rakshit Garg delivered their best efforts on the theme of "Peace Through Service" using Rotary's 'Four-Way Test'.

The speakers were ranked using ballots by three Rotarian judges based on content, delivery, and overall effectiveness. And the winner was Jon Ngo with a $100 prize.

The District Finals will be held at the District 5170 Conference at Meritage Resort in Napa on March 24.

Milpitas High Senior Susie Cadorin and her mom Oona requested assistance from Rotarians with finding host families for Rotary Youth Exchange students visiting here for three month periods during the next school year.

Susie is a candidate for the Youth Exchange and hopes to visit a country in Europe during her year between high school and college.

Oona Cadorin teaches the 3rd grade at Spangler School and Susie is a member of the Milpitas High Varsity Soccer Team and likes rock climbing. Rotarians enthusiastically offered to help them find more host families for Susie's Youth Exchange tour.
