New BART Station Construction Progresses

Demolition started in August for the future Milpitas BART Station.

A project to add BART stations in the South Bay is moving forward in Milpitas.

Construction on the future Milpitas BART Station off the Montague Expressway started in August with the demolition of existing buildings followed by utility relocations in this area.

Montague Expressway and Capitol Avenue have been closed at times, but VTA BART Silicon Valley Community Outreach staff will provide ample notice of all construction activities and traffic impacts.

The 16-mile extension of BART in the Silicon Valley also includes stations in San Jose and Santa Clara.

Progressive Railroading reported:

The Milpitas BART Station will feature a ground-level concourse, below-ground boarding platforms and a seamless connection to VTA’s Montague light-sail station. The Milpitas station is projected to initially average 10,000 riders daily, with BART trains expected to arrive every 7.5 minutes, VTA officials said.

Word is, it will take 60 minutes to ride from Milpitas to San Francisco.

Certainly I'll ride BART when it comes. But I do not expect to use the connection to the "light-sail station". Will that connect to a spaceport? ;-)

We quoted right from their website ... maybe it is a spaceport. The Endeavour needs a job now !!

Great! How do kids get involved? Is there a phone number or email address to contact?
