Milpitas Memorial Day Ceremony Hosts 175 Vets and Their Families

The Ceremony was dedicated to Sgt. Stephen Dunning, a Milpitas residence who lost his life in Afghanistan in 2011

On Monday, Milpitas hosted almost 175 veterans and their families for its annual Memorial Day celebration, according to Renee Lorentzen, a Parks and Recreation program coordinator.

The Ceremony was dedicated to Sgt. Stephen Dunning, a Milpitas residence who lost his life in Afghanistan in 2011.

The Milpitas police department performed a 21-gun salute after Sgt. Dunning’s family unveiled a memorial placard with his name in Memorial Park, said Lorentzen.

A Korean War Display and Veterans Art Show, which will be on exhibit through July 13 at the Milpitas Community Center, were unveiled after the ceremony.
