San Jose's minimum wage increases to $10 an hour Monday, according to city officials.
The San Jose Minimum Wage Initiative, approved by 59.6 percent of voters in November, requires all employers operating within city limit to pay a minimum of $10 an hour, officials said.
The law covers all employers that maintain a facility in San Jose or are subject to the San Jose business tax, and all employees who work at least two hours a week in San Jose, even if their employers are based out side city limits.
"This is a significant change for both employers and employees in San Jose and we're making sure everyone has easy access to as much information as we can provide before the new law goes into effect," Grayson said in a statement.
Employers are required to post notices in the workplace regarding wage rates and employee rights, and maintain payroll records for a minimum of four years. For more information, go to www.sanjoseca.gov/minimumwage.
