Trampolines Recalled Because of Injury Hazard

The trampolines were sold at Sports Authority nationwide.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Wednesday announced a voluntary recall of Sportspower trampolines sold at Sports Authority stores nationwide, including the Bay area.

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately, the Commission warned.

Approximately 23,400 of the 14-feet trampolines were built by Sportspower, Ltd., of Hong Kong and some have faulty legs that can move out of position and puncture the jumping area. These pose a risk of injury, including deep, penetrating puncture wounds, cuts and bruises to children and adults on the trampoline.

No injuries have yet been reported.

The trampolines are 14 feet in diameter and sold with an enclosure net. The trampolines have blue or light blue fabric on the safety matting and enclosure pole sleeves. The model number is marked on the packaging and instruction manual. “Parkside” is printed on the enclosure net.

The trampolines were sold at Sports Authority stores nationwide from April 2007 to May 2012 for about $540.

Consumers with the recalled trampolines should contact Sportspower to receive a free repair kit at (888) 965-0565, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST Monday through Friday, online at www.sportspowerltd.net or email customerservice@sportspowerltd.net for more information.

Sports Authority stores along the Peninsula are located at:

Foster City, 2250 Bridgepointe Parkway

Daly City, 301 Gellert Blvd.

East Palo Alto, 1775 E Bayshore Rd
