Got a kid who loves the outdoors? Santa Clara County Parks announces openings for its fall Junior Ranger program.
Different parks around the south bay, such as in Milpitas, have openings for up to 20 young and open minds, that are eager to explore.
There will be hands-on activities and adventures each Friday between Sept. 30 and Oct. 21, 4-6 p.m., at . Junior Rangers are typically between the ages of 9 to 11, or in the fourth and fifth grades.
And - the program is free!
On the first day of the program, children will receive a free t-shirt and Jr. Ranger logbook. Then, the fun begins - learning how to track a coyote or deer; pretending to live off the land like the ancient Native Americans; exploring the habitats of bobcats, racoons, birds and fish; and much more. As your child participates in each ranger-led activity, he or she will earn certificates and Jr. Ranger badges! Graduating Jr. Rangers may also be invited to a free overnight campout in November with the staff.
Register your child now, before all spots are full! Just visit the Jr. Ranger Program website to download the program guide and registration form.
