Milpitas Band Seeking New Members

Percussionists, woodwind and brass players are especially needed to join the Milpitas Community Concert Band as it kicks off its new season.

Twenty years ago, 10 musicians joined forces under the umbrella of the Milpitas Parks and Recreation Department to form the Milpitas Community Band. In those early years, the group performed small concerts at various venues throughout the city.

Today, renamed the Milpitas Community Concert Band, the group boasts dozens of members from throughout the community from teenagers to retirees.

And they’re still growing.

The group is looking for more musicians to join them for their 20th Gala Season which starts in September.  Especially needed are people who play woodwinds, brass and percussion.

Each year the band performs three family-style concerts featuring classic symphonic band literature, marches, popular music, jazz, Broadway tunes and classic pop. In addition, the group performs at several Milpitas city events including the Veterans Day program, holiday tree-lighting ceremony, and Memorial Day ceremony.
