Photo Slideshow: A Colorful Diwali Celebration at the India Community Center

The India Community Center's third annual Diwali celebration featured fire dancers, musical performances, the lighting of candles and oil lamps and more.

Hundreds gathered at the Sunday evening for its third annual celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights.

This Hindu tradition celebrates the return of Prince Ram and Sita, his wife, after defeating Ravan. The lighting of candles and oil lamps helps symbolize the triumph of good over evil .

Candles were laid out in the community center as well as each dining table to celebrate Prince Ram's return. Fire was a motif, as it was found in dances and decorations; celebrants even lit fireworks in their backyards.
