A New Discount Program Launches in Milpitas Today

Try It Local sends daily deals for local businesses in Milpitas.

A national discount program will soon feature Milpitas restaurants, retailers and other companies in an effort to boost the local business community, according to the .

Try It Local launches in Milpitas today and will send participants daily deals for local businesses offering 40 percent to 90 percent off regular prices, city officials said.

For example, subscribers can spend $10 to purchase a $20 certificate redeemable for food and drinks at a Milpitas restaurant, officials said.

The program is free for consumers, who can sign up for the deal notifications at www.tryitlocal.com/Milpitas. Deals can be provided to subscribers through email or social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

There is no obligation to purchase the deals, officials said. Interested buyers can purchase the discounts online and will receive printable vouchers redeemable at the business.

There is no charge for businesses to provide deals. The company keeps 70 percent of the day's total sales and is responsible for determining the deal and preparing to meet the increased demand for its product or service, city officials said.

"Try It Local is an exciting way to explore new businesses and experiences in Milpitas, while at the same time supporting the local economy  and area companies," said Carol Kassab, CEO of the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce.

Nationally, "Try It Local" has saved consumers more than $500,000 through discount vouchers, and sent more than 16,000 customers to featured businesses, according to the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce.
