Workforce agencies to hold workshop for dislocated workers, vendors and contractors at Ohlone College on Friday.

While a class-action lawsuit has been filed against Solyndra for failing to give advance notice of termination, other forms of relief are on the way for the laid-off workers.

A workforce services orientation will be held for employees impacted by the closure of solar panel manufacturing company headquartered in Fremont.

The event will be Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. at Newark’s  for all former employees, vendors and contractors of Solyndra. Newark’s Ohlone campus is at 39399 Cherry St.

Former Solyndra employees, vendors and contractors will be introduced to employment and training service opportunities, including career counseling, educational resources and stress counseling, according to a flier of the event. For more details, see the attached flier.

Approximately 1,100 full-time and temporary employees learned they would be without jobs after the solar products manufacturing company abruptly announced it was shutting down and filing for bankruptcy.
