Milpitas Business Owners Open New Location of Bambu Desserts & Drinks

Husband and wife team Danielle Tho and Chris Oung opened a new Bambu location Saturday in Cupertino Village.

Hazelnut, grass jelly, red bean, white bean, coconut. These all are ingredients that can be found in drinks or desserts at Cupertino’s newest shop, Bambu Desserts & Drinks, which opened Saturday in Cupertino Village.

Bambu also has two locations in Milpitas. 

Drinks were offered at a special discounted price of $3 over the whole weekend. Cupertino Mayor Orrin Mahoney presided over a 11 a.m. ribbon cutting and one of the founders of Bambu, Kelly Nguyen, were there along with Milpitas-based owners, husband and wife team, Danielle Tho and Chris Oung.

Founded in 2008 by four San Jose sisters, Bambu offers more than 100 cold and hot drinks, smoothies, blended coffee drinks and desserts. Among the offerings of cold drinks are milk teas with a wide variety of 18 flavors such as black milk tea, jasmine milk tea, mango milk tea, lychee milk tea, and grass jelly milk tea. Hot and cold drinks, and blended coffee drinks include such flavors as hazelnut mocha, Vietnamese coffee, Caramel Café, Chai tea, chocolate or French vanilla.

Smoothies kick it up another notch with 26 flavors and names such as Mango Dazzle, Orange Chiller, Raspberry-Rama, Green Apple (Táo Xanh), Taro Coconut (Khoai Môn, Dừa).

And then there are the desserts.  Among the 12 there is BAMBU Special, which is coconut, pandan jelly, longan, basil seed; Chè thập cẩm (combination), which is red bean, white bean, green/mung bean, taro, pandan jelly, pearl, combo jelly; and Chè sương sáo hạt lựu, which is grass jelly, red tapioca, pandan jelly, jello, mung bean.

Any item on the menu can be ordered the way you like it, including extra jellies, pearls, or shots of espresso.

The dessert menu list on the website is offered in Chinese and Spanish as well as English.

The shop located at 10963 N. Wolfe Rd. offers a small area for seating and free WiFi. In addition to Milpitas, Bambu has a nearby location in San Jose and is going nationwide, heading to Texas, Hawaii, Washington DC, Georgia and Florida.
