Shoppers Flock to the Great Mall for Holiday Bargains, Events

Shoppers are drawn to The Great Mall for savings, convenience and special events this holiday season.

It began on Thanksgiving Day when shoppers swarmed to get a jump on .

While shoppers can get into stores today without having to line up, they continue to be excited by deals on high-quality merchandise. That's translating into a lot of ringing cash registers this holiday season, say Great Mall representatives.

The beauty of The Great Mall is that you can find something for everyone on your shopping list without going anywhere else, says Gayle Speare, Great Mall's general manager.

There are dozens of stores catering to women, including DKNY and Upscale shops include , , , and .  Stores that carry teen and children’s fashions are also available.

Jewelry – check. Electronics – absolutely! In fact, the mall has more than 200 stores and restaurants. A complete listing of stores is available online.

While declining to reveal exact sales figures, mall management reports brisk sales, and more special events planned for the remainder of this holiday season.

“Our shoppers... will get more hours to shop, more retailer offers and more immediate notification about special deals on the most popular brands in the world,” said Speare.

Lacie Thomas of San Jose says she has been doing all her holiday shopping at the Great Mall this year. In just a few trips over the last two weekends, she says she is almost done with everyone on her list this year.

"I do have to get there pretty early to get a parking spot. It's been incredibly crowded," she said. "But once I'm parked and in the mall, I'm finding everything I need. And I love that I can drop my packages off to be gift wrapped, and go get a bite to eat while I'm waiting."

If you have children in tow, there's entertainment for them, too. Santa makes regular appearances and is always ready to lend an ear to eager wee ones with Christmas wishes. And this Saturday, the Kidgits Club for kids is holding Breakfast With Santa. Event organizers promise “food, fun, games and activities, hosted by Radio Disney.” For more information on the Kidgits event, call 408-956-2033.

If you’re trying to figure out how you’ll get everything done before the holidays, you can cross gift-wrapping off your list, too - if you buy your gifts at the Great Mall, gift wrapping is free.

And finally, if you’re a procrastinator who believes that Christmas shopping begins and ends on Christmas Eve, the Great Mall will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 24.
