Swimming Pools: Where to Go

Public pools are opening for the summer. Find out how much you'll need to pay for your dip.

Where to take the plunge this summer.

Raging Waters, San Jose: Opens for the season on Sunday, May 22. Inside Lake Cunningham Regional Park. The city of San Jose charges a parking fee of $6 per car. Season pass special: $42.99 when you buy 2 or more passes (regularly $52.99). Single admission is $33.99. Juniors and seniors $22.99.


Aqua Adventure Water Park, Fremont
The Aqua Adventure Water Park at Lake Elizabeth opened for weekend swimming on Saturday, May 21. A season pass is $74.99 ($69.99 for Fremont residents) and are good May 21 though Sept. 25.

Golfland Emerald Hills Waterslides: $13.99 unlimited day pass for golf and waterslides from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Or pay by the hour. $7.99 for kids 12 and up ($6.99 for kids 6-11 years old) plus $3.50 for each additional hour.

: Summer recreation swimming for $2. Fridays, July 1-August 26 from 2-5 p.m. Weekends, July 2-August 27 from 1-4 p.m. Holidays: July 4, 1-4 p.m. and Labor Day September 4, noon-4 p.m. Outdoor pools. See list above.

San Jose State University Aquatic Center
: $3 for community drop-ins. $35 per month. $75 for three months. Swim lessons available for ages 3 and up. Pool reopens June 13. Hours: Monday and Wednesday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m., Fridays 7 a.m.-7 a.m., Saturdays 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

: $5-8. : Open swim is available Friday, 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, 1-7 p.m. and Sunday noon-5 p.m. One price lets you swim in any of the indoor pools. 

Family Fridays begin July 1. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., it costs $7 per person.

Other passes are also available: 20-visit, three-month, six-month, annual, family. Prices are based on age. A day pass is $16.99/$15.99 for anyone over 48 inches tall. A junior day pass is $11.99/$10.99 and for ages 2 and under, $2 (which includes a swim diaper). Spectators pay $8.99, including a refundable deposit.

Lap swim runs Saturday, June 18, through Saturday, Aug. 27, and costs $6 per visit without a season pass/$4 with a pass. A ten-visit lap swim card is $50 ($30 for season pass holders).


City of Santa Clara:
offers summer recreational swimming and lessions at the George F. Haines International Swim Center in Central Park, the Mary Gomez Park and Pool, Montague Pool and Warburton Park and Pool.  More details to come.  View the summer activity guide online.

Northwood Park: Located near Target at 2094 Morrill Ave., this homeowners association makes the pool open to the public for an annual membership of $295. Signup days are listed on the website. Pool opens for the year on Saturday, May 28.

: Members only club offers annual basic membership for $380. Open house and free swim: Saturday, May 28, 1-3 p.m.
