Tweet Someone A $5 Starbucks Coffee Gift Card

Give the gift of java in 140 characters or less.

Starbucks had some great news for those who want to give their friends and followers on Twitter that much-needed caffeine for a great picker-upper in the morning.

Customers can now "tweet-a-coffee" to them via their Twitter and Starbucks accounts.

Then friends can redeem the $5 gift card by printing it or showing it at the popular coffee shops on their mobile devices.

The coffee chain encourages customers to use the Twitter hashtag #amazing while sending the good-news tweet.

The campaign runs through Nov. 6.

Starbucks Chief Digital Officer Adam Brotman blogged about the promotion that "it's a fun, thoughtful, unique way to send Starbucks using Twitter."

He then gives the following instructions on how to give the "gift of Starbucks" in 140 characters or less:

  • Go to www.starbucks.com/tweetacoffee to connect your Starbucks and Twitter accounts and confirm a payment method.
  • From Twitter, type: @tweetacoffee TO @recipient’s name. You can even personalize your tweet with a message.
  • Tweet the eGift. Your recipient will receive a link to their $5  eGift, which they can print out, redeem from their phone at participating stores or transfer to a registered Starbucks Card.
  • Your $5 Starbucks Card eGift will be charged to the credit card that you have on-file for your Starbucks account.
