Letter to the Editor: Neighborhood Adoption Program

Step up and spruce up your street.

By Samantha Beard, Chair of the Milpitas Community Advisory Commission

Did you know you can adopt an area of Milpitas and call it your very own? The Neighborhood Adoption Program is designed to recognize the commitment of volunteers to beautify our neighborhoods and lend a helping hand throughout our community.

On Saturday May 19th, the Community Advisory Commission paired up with volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints participating in a Just Serve project, The Cathedral of Faith and the Lions Club to kick off the Neighborhood Adoption Program by assisting residents who live in the Mobilodge of Milpitas.

Over 25 residents participated and volunteers provided assistance in areas such as landscaping, trash removal and maintenance. This event would not be possible without generous donations from Allied Waste, Noah’s Bagels, Peet's Coffee and Dixon Laundry. Through local business and community members, this event was a tremendous success and proved that together we can make a difference.
