Milpitas Patch: Animal Awareness Week

This week is all about our furry friends, many of whom are euthanized because shelters are just too crowded.

If you haven't already noticed, this week we've had our eye on animals. So we thought, why not continue the trend?

We started off on Monday with a photo essay of the at the Congregation of Sunnyhills-- but we realize not all animals are so lucky.

According to widely accepted estimates (laws don't require animal care and control agencies to keep statistics), 3.7 million animals were euthanized across the country in 2008.

Milpitas shelters continue to deal with overcrowding, which you'll hear about on Thursday. That's why we have our Pet of the Week spot (on Tuesday we featured ).
