Pistol-whipping Robbery Suspect Jailed

A young San Jose man suspected of taking part in an armed robbery in the Great Mall parking lot in April was arrested this week in East Palo Alto, Milpitas police reported.

Another teen was arrested in early May in connection with the stickup, police said.

Imarius Joseph Martin, 18, was arrested Tuesday, police reported. The other suspect, a 17-year-old from Milpitas, was picks duo May 8.

Police say the two duped a teenage couple from San Jose into coming to the parking lot under the pretense of buying a cell phone that had been advertised online.

Instead of making the transaction, Martin allegedly pulled a gun and hit the male would-be customer, age 18, in the head, according to police.

Martin and the 17-year-old then allegedly stole $550 from the couple and ran away on foot, police said.

Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of robbery, police reported.
