Tell Milpitas Patch what you think.

This week, let us know what you think of the new white stripes and express lanes on SR 237.

It's very inconvenient for Milpitas residents because coming from Calaveras you cannot enter the commuter lane until 1st Street, unless go out of your way to go to Dixon Landing road and get on 880 there.

Yes, I noticed that too. Are any carpoolers out there especially steamed about it?

Plus they useless metering at the entrance on 237 and Mccarthy. Even after green 1 per car you cannot go, so what's use ?

Yes. I'm upset, too. They are effectively punishing carpoolers from Milpitas and rewarding only carpoolers from north of Milpitas (Fremont, etc). There should be an opening for cars to get into the lane after McCarthy and before Zanker.

I have concerns that Calaveras Blvd. in Milpitas is going to become even more congested. I travel from east of 680 to my office on Main Street every day and sit I N the congestion between the exit ramps from 680 to the exit for Main St. Just after the railway bridge, a distance of about a mile, an have sat in the traffic fo over 20 minutes on that stretch. I wonder how many of those cars have been entering 237 and getting into the carpool thus keeping the flow going and who will now have to stay in the slower lanes until 1st Street.

I don't think this was thought out well and a waste of tax money.

Not being able to enter the carpool lane until 1st Street is crazy. That's where the traffic thins out! This will, in all likelihood, lead to significantly more congestion on Calaveras and the NB880 to Calaveras off ramp. Slower for motorcyclists too, as they aren't supposed to enter the carpool lane until 1st street. Not too smart.....
