Save the Dates: March 19 all the way to June 19

It seems like we just entered 2011, and time has quickly gone by. So far this year in Milpitas, we've had two crab feeds, spring break is around the corner, and the last day of school is only three months away. Here are some of the dates we've got on our calendar. Please feel free to add yours in the comments section!

• Saturday. Opening ceremonies of the Milpitas National Little League. 11 a.m. Milpitas Sports Complex.
• March 24. Indian Ambassador Meera Shankar address on U.S.-India relations at the India Community Center. 6 p.m. Free. RSVP required.
• March 24. Milpitas chapter of Ducks Unlimited presents the 27th Annual Sportsmen Dinner, Napredak Hall, 5:30 a.m. cocktails. 7:30 p.m. dinner. $80 per person. Contact 408-849-6777.
• March 25.  performs at 7:30 p.m. at the community center. Suggested $2 donation per person.
• March 25. Milpitas High Trojan Olympics at 7 p.m. in the large gym. Must have a ticket to attend.
• March 27. Pancake breakfast/fundraiser for Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Department. 8 a.m. to noon, Spring Valley Golf Course. Donations to the Spring Valley Volunteer Fire Department can be mailed to P.O. Box 360211, Milpitas 95036. 
• April 1-2 and 8-9. Musical performance of Disney's Aladdin Junior at Milpitas Community Center. Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. $8 general admission; $6 kids and seniors.
• April 2. Annual compost giveaway. Two free bags per household with coupon. Newby Island Resource Recovery Park. 8 a.m. to noon.
• April 9. The Knights of Columbus Council 5796 holds the 37th Annual Awards Banquet to honor the Police Officer Mitch Timko, Firefighter/Paramedic Brian Bruce and Citizen of the Year (TBA) at St. John the Baptist Parish, Pavalkis Hall. 6 p.m. Tickets are $30. • April 30. Youthsava 2011 at the India Community Center. Youth performance showcase and contest. 

• May 6.  Milpitas Chamber of Commerce's 3rd Annual Golf Tournament starts noon at the Spring Valley Golf Course.
• May 14. Milpitas Alliance for the Arts organizes the Literary Tea at the Barbara Lee Senior Center.
• May 15. Milpitas Camera Club has a show at the Milpitas Public Library.
• May 19. Bike to Work Day. Stay tuned for details.
• May 30. City of Milpitas Memorial Day Ceremony, Veterans Memorial Park, 9 a.m.
• June 11. Filipino American Association of Milpitas, Inc. Annual Filipino Fiesta (MACG Event)
• June 16. Last day of instruction for schools in the Milpitas Unified School District.
• June 17.  performs at 7:30 p.m. at the community center. Suggested $2 donation per person.
• June 18. Milpitas High graduation ceremony for the Class of 2011. 9 a.m. Tickets are required, unless you are watching the live ceremony in the air-conditioned theater.
• June 18-19. American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at the Milpitas Sports Center.
