Southbound Lanes on I-680 Reopen After Crash

Traffic remains heavy but is expected to easy during the noon hour

All southbound traffic on Highway 680 through Fremont, snarled since a 9:40 a.m. crash blocked two lanes, is clearing after California Highway Patrol officials opened all lanes shortly after 11:30 a.m. today.

The accident, near the Scott Creek Road off-ramp on the Fremont-Milpitas border, involved a truck and a sports-utility vehicle which reportedly was pulling a boat. CHP officials said the boat blocked two lanes of the highway. It was towed away shortly after 11 a.m. today.
