Update: Suspicious Package Found on VTA Bus Determined Not to Be a Bomb

A suspicious package was reported at 5:45 p.m. in the Monterey Highway and Capitol Expressway of San Jose.

Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies have determined a suspicious package found on a VTA bus in San Jose this evening is not a bomb, sheriff's officials said.

The package was reported in the area of Monterey Highway and Capitol Expressway in San Jose.

A bomb squad was called to the area to investigate the package at 5:45 p.m. The bus was evacuated and nearby roads were blocked.

After taking x-rays of the package, the bomb squad determined at about 8:15 p.m. that the package was not a bomb.

I passed by Capitol earlier today and had no idea what was going on and why the roads were blocked...
