COMPARZA: An evening of music on the Philippine Mandolin.

Kawayan Folk Arts presents COMPARZA:  An evening of music on the Philippine Mandolin.  Celebrating 6 years of the performing arts, Kawayan Folk Arts will share an evening of live music featuring the Philippine Mandolin, rondalla.  Introduced to the Philippines in the 16th Century, Spanish mandolins and the guitar became popular instruments.

This evening will include folk music from the Philippines, including classic kundiman and romantic serenades, as well as fun renditions of contemporary music and popular hits.  Kawayan will also be joined by local musicians, vocalists, and artists from the Bay Area including Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble, the Fil-Am Veterans Rondalla, Lendl San Jose, and Helene Lee Toralba.

Comparza will be presented at the Theatre on San Pedro Square in the heart of downtown San Jose.  Artisan food is available nearby at the San Pedro Square Market.
