It’s America’s Night Out Against Crime!

Last year’s National Night Out campaign involved residents, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out in 2010. National Night Out 2011 is expected to be the largest event yet!

The Milpitas Police Department encourages residents to host neighborhood parties on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 to celebrate the annual National Night Out.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness • Generate support for, and participation in local anti‐ crime programs • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police‐community partnerships • Send a message to criminals to let them know that neighborhoods are fighting back against crime

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods celebrate National Night Out with:

• Block parties • Ice cream socials • Cookouts • Visits from officers of the Milpitas Police Department

National Night Out has been proven to be an effective, economical and enjoyable program that promotes neighborhood spirit and police‐community partnerships in our fight for a safer community. Plus, the benefits your community will gain from National Night Out will most certainly extend well beyond this one night.
