How Cool Is This?

The sound of thunder as your veggies are about to get wet at Nob Hill Foods is sign of true Americanism.

My favorite new invention may not be new or even an invention, but it is most defiantly cool. I came across it a few months ago while grocery shopping.

First, you need to know that my wife is charmingly anal about shopping lists. They are typed, categorized by food group and must, I repeat, must be followed to the letter.

So, as usual, I’m pushing my three-wheeled cart down the “chips/candy" aisle trying to figure out if she’ll notice that the words, “Large Snickers” have now appeared in crayon on the master directive, when I make a left into the produce section … and that’s when I hear it, thunder.

Thunder above the broccoli, thunder above the cauliflower, thunder above the carrots and jalapenos. Thunder and mist above the vegetables. A veritable monsoon smack dab in the middle Nob Hill Foods!

Who’d thought? How wonderfully creative, how very American, how do people think up this stuff? Someone has far too much time on their hands.

Speaking of too much time on one’s hands, how long have I been standing here? How many storms have passed through the avocados? Will there be lighting? Were those Snickers two for one? I gotta go … stay dry.

I have no idea what that is. But I'm sure prices would go up to have that gadget.

What do you expect from a place that gives you 3 wheel carts. I stick with old fashioned 4 wheel stores and wear water proof wrist watches. I guess like working on sundays at time and a half Nob Hill can't afford the 4th wheel. Go unions. When they go on strike Sunday you can tryout the 4 wheelers at Lunardi's where the produce is pre washed already.

You're kidding about the shopping list, right. And the thunder and rain at Knob Hill Foods, well, who needs to go to Disneyland now? Thanks for your fun blogs.

Irene, it's just a sound you hear when the veggies are about to get sprayed! LOL!

If you are ever in Cleveland, Ohio, maybe to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, check out the Cleveland Rainforest at the zoo there. It has a mini forest with a real thunderstorm. It's really cool. Or just stand outside and wait for a real storm. :)
