Baskin Robbins Grand Opening

Where/When: Nob Hill shopping center, 357 Jacklin Rd., Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.

Why go: Balloon animals, face-painting, live entertainment, plus a check donation for Milpitas PAL Soccer. Ribbon cutting with Mayor Jose Esteves and Police Chief Dennis Graham.

Wedding Expo

Where/When: , Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Bridal fashion show, sample food, DJs, wedding photographers, mehndi and makeup artists, wedding vendors face-to-face, wedding ideas and tips.

Where/When: , Saturday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon - 6 p.m.

Why go: Sign up for a future date to go into San Jose and Newark's Red Cross. The Muslims for Life campaign remembers the victims of 9/11 by collecting blood to save lives. Halfway into the month, the  in Milpitas and participating groups across the country are nearly halfway to reaching their goal of 10,000 pints.

Where/When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at one of three locations: Coyote Creek Trail Head, (Berryessa Creek), and Serra Center (lower Penitencia Creek).

Why go: Help clean up litter in our creeks as part of International Coastal Cleanup Day. More than 40 cleanup sites are located throughout Santa Clara County. Wear long pants, sturdy shoes, gloves and sunscreen. Bring a signed waiver form with you.

CPR/AED/First Aid Training Class

Where/When:Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why go: The class includes infant, child, and adult CPR, rescue breathing, choking rescue, and the following first aid skills: bleeding control, treatment of burns, fractures, sprains, strains, seizures, poisoning, heat and cold emergencies.  Students will also receive training in the use Automated External Defibrillators (AED).  The class is open to everyone and with the successful completion attendees will be given Red Cross certification.

Yoga for Parents

Where/When: , Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why go: Techniques to bring deep relaxation of the mind and body taught by instructor Sharmila Udiavar. Part of the Art of Living series.

Why Go: Celebrate Newark’s 56th birthday by enjoying carnival rides, playing games and eating tons of faire food. Children can also do arts and craft projects and visit animals in the petting zoo, while adults can check out cool cars and shop for goods. Read an .
