Weekend Planner: Art Festival and More

Fremont Festival of the Arts, free concert by Milpitas' own Manuel Romero, county youth fair and more.

Where/When: Paseo Padre Parkway, Fremont, all weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Join the street festival for free to enjoy arts and crafts, wine, food and music.

Pricing: Free

 

Where/When: county offices outdoor plaza, 70 W. Hedding Street, San Jose, Friday at 7 p.m.

Why Go: If you didn't see this Milpitan perform at the MUSD Crab Feed earlier this year, catch a live show tonight. Featuring Victor Romero and band plus Mariachi Tequila. I Believe in You Summer Concert, a tribute to Richard Chavez, younger brother of Cesar Chavez.

Pricing: Free

 

Big Dog Vineyards Wine Tasting

Where/When: , all weekend, noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Even through a grassfire last week spread into the pasture area of the property, the wine tastings continue this weekend. MoGo BBQ food truck will serve Korean-fusion on Saturday. A vineyard tour is offered at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Pricing: varies depending on purchases

Where/When: Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, San Jose, all weekend, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: It's the last weekend to see live entertainment, go on the rides and see a livestock auction.

Pricing: Free admission. Parking is $5.  Each ride takes three to five tickets that you can purchase on the fairgrounds. Ride tickets are $23 for 25 coupons, and $70 for 80 coupons. There is also a Pay One Price ticket for $25, available for use only on the day of purchase.  

 

Where/When: , Saturday, 2-5 p.m.

Why Go: The show, entitled "From Shades of Grey to Full Color" features oil paintings, acrylics, pencil and collages by local artists.

Pricing: Free 

 

Where/When: , Saturday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: Meet Gurbaksh Chahal, who at the age of 16, started his own internet based company ClickAgents, making him one of the the youngest self-made millionaires.  In his book The Dream, Chahal, aspires entrepreneurs with hands-on advice on how to achieve success.

Pricing: Free, but RSVP required.

 

When/Where: , Saturday, 1 p.m. 

Why Go: Kawayan Folk Arts offers free lessons for youth each Saturday focused on a different folk dance from the Philippines.

Pricing: Free

 

When/Where: , summer weekends 1-4 p.m.

Why Go: Splash down, get wet and have fun!

Pricing: $2 per person
