With a forecast sunny skies, it looks to be a perfect weekend for some family outdoor fun–without having to go far.
Where/When: Piedmont Hill High School, 1377 Piedmont Rd, San Jose, Saturday, ice cream social at 1 p.m., gala with spaghetti at 6:30 p.m.
Why Go: Milpitas Fancy Dancers youth dance team offers two performances on Saturday. Hard to decide–come for the ice cream social at 1 p.m. or the gala at 6:30 p.m. Either way, you'll support these talented ladies!

Why Go: A family event with games, pony rides and food. Vendors will sell hot dogs, sausages, nachos, Asian tacos and offer a build-your-own sundae bar. Shop for merchandise, such as jewelry, clothing, and Avon. Proceeds benefit the Sinnott PTA.

Why Go: The City of Milpitas Suggested Routes to School Program and the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Commission offer a free bicycle education course for young riders.

Why Go: Drop off your aluminum cans, glass and plastic bottles, and a donation to benefit the Russell Middle School's Booster Club.

Why Go: Hear stories about wildlife animal rescues and rehabilitation from the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley. Special appearance by an live education animal.

Why Go: A showcase of dance performances by youth competing for prizes. Close to 100 songs featured. In Sanskrit, “Uthsava” means celebration, and this event helps Indian-American youth develop a sense of pride in their heritage and culture through dance. An afterparty follows the event.

Where/When: Downtown Willow Glen, Lincoln Avenue, San Jose, Sunday, 10:30 a.m.-noon
Why Go: The first Kidical Mass, a bike ride event for kids, starts Sunday, and hopes to continue for the first Sunday of each month. After the group ride, the May Day Festival has Maypole dancing, bike demos and displays, arts and crafts booths and horse-drawn hayrides.
