Weekend Planner: Youth Sports and More

Last chance to register for PAL soccer, mandatory parent meeting for Milpitas Knights football, celebrate the one year anniversary of Vedas restaurant and more.

When/Where: , Saturday, noon to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Last chance to register your child (under 6 to under 16) for this season's PAL soccer. Bring a filled out registration form, photocopy of birth certificate, 1" x 1" photo portrait and your checkbook. Practices begin in August. 

Pricing: $70 to $110 depending on age

 

When/Where:Saturday, 3-5 p.m.

Why Go: Meet restauranteurs over live music, free appetizers and $3 beers.

Pricing: Free appetizers

 

 

When/Where:  at Christ Community Church of Milpitas, Friday, Doors open at 6 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a live performance by MountainHouse, a pop/folk band. 

Pricing: Free admission

 

When/Where: Coyote Creek Field Station, Saturday, 8:30 a.m.

Why Go: This community tour on may be full, but the Milpitas-based San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory will add an afternoon tour if more people RSVP.

When/Where: , Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Do some community service alongside friends and neighbors to help keep this popular park clean. 

Pricing: Free

 

When/Where: , Saturday, 1 p.m. 

Why Go: Kawayan Folk Arts offers free lessons for youth each Saturday focused on a different folk dance from the Philippines. The one this weekend is Mangalay, which originates from the southern island of Mindanao.

Pricing: Free

When/Where: , Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: The young cast of the City of Milpitas Rainbow Theatre will entertain you with in a story about a love triangle set in high school.

Pricing: $12 general admission (ages 13 and up), $6 youth (ages 12 and under)

 

 

When/Where: , Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Mandatory parent meeting has been moved to Saturday at 10 a.m. (originally it was Monday). Finalize your child's registration by bringing in remaining paperwork from 8-9:45 a.m. in front of the doors of the Milpitas Sports Center.

Pricing: Registration is closed.

 

When/Where: , summer weekends 1-4 p.m.

Why Go: Splash down, get wet and have fun!

Pricing: $2 per person

 

When/Where:Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.

Why Go: It's a party with 20 somethings, drinks, swimming and DJs, and you don't have to go far to enjoy it. Head over to the Beverly Heritage, get a room even, and pretend you're out of town for the weekend.

Pricing: $15 before 2 p.m.; $25 after 2 p.m.
