Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Milpitas police have a man in custody for a robbery that occurred at a Bank of America on Saturday, August 13.

Updated: August 18 at 10:13 a.m. on the amount of cash recovered

Milpitas police released a statement today on Todd Michael Haley, 40, of Garden Grove in Southern California, who they believe is responsible for a bank robbery.

On Saturday around 12:33 p.m., Haley is reported to have presented a note to the teller at the Bank of America on Calaveras Boulevard claiming to have a gun.

He was wearing a fishing hat, eyeglasses and a multi-colored backpack.

Police began searching the area, detaining Haley near the Great Mall/VTA light rail station. Inside the backpack, they found the demand note, clothing he wore during the incident and money.

According to Lt. Steven Petrakovitz, there is a difference in the amount the bank reported to be stolen and the amount recovered.

The bank reported $5,100 stolen.

"When we arrested the gentleman we only recovered $3,704," he said.

Haley was arrested within an hour of the robbery.
