BART Cars Outfitted with Sierra LaMar Posters

Two hundred of the transit service's cars now feature posters containing information about the missing Morgan Hill teen.

The effort to find missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar got a boost yesterday when 200 BART cars were outfitted with posters advising the public about the 15-year-old’s disappearance, according to Keith LaMar, a cousin of Sierra’s.

The posters feature Sierra’s name, description and photo and include police contact information. The posters also contain that passengers with mobile phones can scan to find out more information.

The posters were paid for using money from the , LaMar said.

“If you think about the volume of people that ride BART everyday, these posters are absolutely going to help spread the word about Sierra even more,” he said.

“It’s going to expand those who haven’t seen Sierra’s name and face,” he continued. “For those who do know about her, it’s going to reinforce that she’s been missing for over a month and that this is a big deal.”

LaMar said he wasn't sure how long the posters will be featured on the cars.

Sierra has been missing since March 16 when she didn't show up for school. Investigators believe and of the South County region. Today, of areas previously canvassed by Santa Clara County authorities.

Sgt. Jose Cardoza of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office said the posters will help broaden the scope of information getting out to the public.

"Obviously, every publicity we get in this case helps bring attention to Sierra," he said. "It branches out and brings attention to the region where these posters are going to be."
