Burglary Suspect Apprehended at The Pines

A man reported to have been vandalizing cars at the Centria Thursday is nabbed by police a few hours later at The Pines.

Residents who reported a man vandalizing cars and behaving suspiciously on Thursday morning assisted police in his arrest.

Paul Everette Keglar, 40, of San Francisco, is in custody in the Santa Clara County Main Jail. He is being held with a bail ofΒ $150,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

He was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, dog stealing, resisting arrest and multiple counts of auto burglary.

Before 5 a.m. Thursday, a resident of the CentriaΒ Condominium complex apparently sawΒ the suspect tampering with vehicles. Keglar is reported to have left the scene on a motorized scooter for seniors.

An officer canvassing The Pines saw a man matching the description with a few bags. Keglar is reported to have fled, jumping residential fences.

An officer saw him around 8:48 a.m. and pursued him on foot. Keglar is reported to have fled again. Police say he entered a home on the 1200 block of Sun Court, changed his clothing and took a dog as a ruse.

But another resident reportedly saw him acting suspiciously and release the dog. The police were able to arrest Keglar with the tip. When they found him, they also found him in possession of items from the residence.
