A motorist suffered major injuries Sunday when a vehicle left state Highway 130 and went over a cliff down hundreds of feet, officials said.
The crash was reported about 2 p.m. on state Highway 130, near Clayton Road, in San Jose, according to California Highway Patrol Officer James Evans.
An officer on scene asked for a tow truck with 500 feet of cable to pull the vehicle up, Evans told Patch.
Emergency crews had to help the driver and passenger out of the vehicle and a helicopter airlifted the motorist to a trauma center, Evans told Patch.
The passenger suffered minor injuries, he said.
Traffic officers were investigating the cause of the crash.
