From 12:01 a.m. Friday through midnight Sunday, Santa Clara County law enforcement agencies have arrested 38 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Last year, 104 DUI arrests were counted in the same time period.
The arrests are part of a countywide "Avoid the 13" campaign, a DUI crackdown going on this Memorial Day weekend.
The campaign has implemented routine checkpoints throughout the county in an attempt to crack down on drunk driving over the holiday weekend.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office noted that there were no DUI deaths or major injuries as of midnight Sunday, though these numbers are provisional, as some agencies have yet to report.
Here is the arrest breakdown by city so far:
California Highway Patrol - San Jose: 25
Los Gatos: 4
Morgan Hill: 1
Mountain View: 4
Palo Alto: 1
Among the cities with no arrests so far are Gilroy, Cupertino and Campbell.
The Avoid the 13 enforcement period continues through midnight today. Extra DUI saturation patrols will be set up San Jose, Milpitas, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos and Gilroy.
Additionally, all available CHP officers are patrolling freeways and county roads.
Drivers are urged not to drink before driving, and the best plan of action: elect a designated driver!
