Father of Sierra LaMar Murder Suspect Faces Sexual Assault Charges

Genaro Garcia Fernandez, 51, was ordered to stand trial on charges he molested his daughter for nine years.

The father of , the man charged in the disappearance of Sierra LaMar, has been ordered to stand trial for multiple sexual assault charges.

A judge has ordered Genaro Garcia Fernandez, 51, to go on trial on charges that he molested his daughter for nine years, an investigator with the Santa Clara County Sexual Crimes Unit told KCBS.

The young woman said that the molestations continued until she was 14 years old.

Her brother, Antolin Garcia-Torres, was charged last month for the murder and killing of Sierra LaMar, 15, following her disappearance on March 16.

Despite , LaMar’s body has not been found.

I agree, I guess I didnt stress my point of that it is up to the victim to break the cycle of violence. Nothing is 100% but then, to break something evil like that over you one must make a real effort and get help and move on in life. But I do not believe this is the case for don juan anton here, he saw daddy do it so now he does it. No one got caught till now so he never learned as a kid it was wrong so he needs to stop.

I have found that there are a few posters that seem to always post racist remarks. Two of them have now been removed. THANK YOU.
Pete "he saw daddy do it so now he does it. No one got caught till now so he never learned as a kid it was wrong so he needs to stop." He is an adult and by now should know it is wrong. As a teen he would know it is wrong. He made the choice so I cannot totally fault the father. There is Megan's list. You might be surprised how many molesters are in your neighborhood. Also, my personal believe is that you are NEVER cured of being a molester. This is really my opinion. I know CURED is a strong word but it is the best one to fit what I am trying to say. This is Randy's opinion

You are right, but like I said as a child that is when you are most impresionable and pick up personality traits so that you can become part of the local social group (his family). Alot of the person you are gonna be is there by the time yer a teen anyhow.
And yes as a teen and adult he did know better, but it was too late. The sexual deviance had been hardwired into his personality, it had become part of who he was. I doubt (i could be wrong) that he never sought professional help to deal with these feelings so that is why he acts out the way he does on these girls (I say that because he is a suspect in more then just LaMar) - He knows it is wrong, he just dont care or cant help it. And from what I understand something like that is not like a oil job and just come back in 6 months. It is a daily struggle, just like anything else in life. Now note, I dont condone his actions. But I can see now the big pattern and I understand it better as more info comes to light.

There is also a question of how much of it is nature (the person genetics, not environment) and how much of it is nurture (the environment they grow up in, way they are raised, strict or lax, abusive or not). Not all kids raised in abusive families go on to abuse, that said, not all abusers were raised by abusers. Some come from 'normal' families, communities...
There ARE more abusers who do come from abusive, one sort or another, families or foster, or severe religious restrictive upbringings. The numbers do not lie.

To Pete Arballo....Look up a local ASI meeting. You can find it through any local AA meetings. Go in there & ask any of them & they'll tell you just how wrong you are. There are millions of members. I personally met thousands & none of them are pedophiles nor am I. Your theory is FOS

Wow some really heated discussion - which is hardly surprising considering the topic. I do not know what prompted the authorities to charge the accused man with murder when a body has not been found but I truly hope that if there is any chance this little girl is alive she can be found and reunited with her family. As a mother myself this is probably a parents worst nightmare and my heart goes out to them.

I think that sexual predators is something that to me is just horrible. The laws are not tough enough. The suspect gets his/her hand slapped and the victim carries a life sentence.
I know of someone that right now is on FACEBOOK. He is listed on megan's law and I know what he did. He molested two sisters ages 5 and 6. He received 1 year in jail and has to register as a sex offender. Oh, one of his "CAUSES" on Facebook, he supports and tries to "counsel" victims of child molestation. Oh, report him you say. Well, it has been done to no avail. So to me, we need stronger laws. This is RANDY'S OPINION. Peter peter... how do you know if I am male or female.. (just joking there Pete old boy)

These are the values this sicko brought to this country. He should have been deported a long time ago before he could raise a deranged son to carry on his perverted legacy.

Texas NDN - Did u see the post I posted to Selene? I guess not here cut and paste and lil customizing just fer you my friend:
Im sorry such a horrific thing had happenend to you. But I make no apologies as to what I said. I stated that and I quote myself "Kids whom were molested or exposed to such sexual things as children ALMOST ALWAYS grow up to be pedophiles too. Its a fact, goggle it. IT IS A CYCLE THAT THE VICTIM MUST BREAK, a vicious cycle." *ALMOST ALWAYS = not everyone, just like u said about yerself (but with billions of people in the world, some are gonna go the other way also)* Im glad you were able to walk away and were able to take back yer life, lots of people this happens to can't or won't deal with it or just dont know how. Im sure you had took steps and found support to ease and come to terms with these horrible things that had happen to you. So you did what you needed to do, YOU BROKE THE VICIOUS CYCLE. Its like if Dad is a lush, if you are not careful and make a real daily conscience effort you might be end up a lush too. So, I stand by what I said and I also hope that you and yours might continue to share yer strength with others like you who might not be as strong as you were able to be. God bless.

In light of recent events concerning the Sandusky trial, one thing is for sure, these predators attack more than once. Yet it puzzles me that they are able to get away for it so long. The child is left confused and the pedophile preys on this. It is disturbing to say the least. Getting back to the LaMar case, it seems that the Apple doesn't fall from the tree. The dad must know something about Sierra's disappearance. Sierra is most likely dead based on how the police are now handling the case. There are more ppl that know what happened, and yes, the body needs to be recovered. Otherwise, the case against this guy is weak.
reggieqh1 July 13, 2012 at 11:36 pm
Sorry they had every reason to lump these two together, they are related and accused of simular crimes. We can believe whatever we want to believe, but it is a fact that Father and Son are both now in jail as suspects of sexually assaulting little girls.
randy July 14, 2012 at 04:33 am
DeAnna... What do you mean. Sierra to speak up?
Pete Arballo July 14, 2012 at 06:15 am
I think she believes that before Sierra was abducted she too was being abused.
randy July 14, 2012 at 11:10 am
Oh okay.
Liz Ainsworth July 14, 2012 at 01:16 pm
To my knowledge, and I am not an expert on this case, there has never been any doubt or allegation about the care and parental abilities of Sierra's parents. The family being discussed is an entirely different one and I do not want to add to the distress of this beautiful girls family by making inaccurate statements.

HUH?
Geoff Burton July 15, 2012 at 12:47 pm
Did you even read the artical you are posting about? Why don't you actually read about the Sierra LaMar case maybe then you won't be so obviously confused and off track.
randy July 15, 2012 at 01:06 pm
Thanks Geoff. From everything that I have seen and read, Sierra had a good life. My heart aches for her family,, her sister, mom step dad and dad all have shown great strength and courage.
My prayers are for God to give the family peace.
Vanessa Jones July 15, 2012 at 01:57 pm
No, it doesn't support that fact. Apparently this man was living in a "traditional family unit" so your argument doesn't make sense. Obviously being in a traditional family did not stop this man from being a molester or his son from allegedly being an abductor/killer.
Lisa Kphotoalbums July 15, 2012 at 03:27 pm
From some of the replies it seems like fiction writers are weaving stories from unwritten 'facts'.
Although, the Title of the Article may give a misdirection...the article itself is Direct. I was going to say 'very' direct...but, then if so many miss the point maybe the writer should have written shorter sentences and broken the paragraphs down to smaller bytes? Taken just from the Article: The Father of The Alleged kidnapper/murder Antolin Garcia-Torres, Genaro Garcia Fernandez, was arrested for molesting his daughter. It has nothing to do with the Le Mar case, at least not directly. No allegations were directed about anything with Sierra Le Mar. As far as race or illegality of their being here? It is too below the common sense, let alone intelligence, of most people to comment further.
CACHICA July 16, 2012 at 02:31 pm
You know I see all of these comments about what you think you know, but unless you have lived it, you don't know anything! Trust me! My heart goes out to everyone surrounding these two people's actions. Let's not make this about race. Where's your humanity!
Kell July 16, 2012 at 03:31 pm
I don't think you have any real idea what has been happening in this case and that you are confusing the two families: The Lamar family who is missing a teenager, and the man who is accused to her murder and his family. I think you need to be clear about who you are writing about before you post things, as they could be offensive and hurtful to people, despite the fact that it is clear you are confused.
J. Conseco July 18, 2012 at 07:16 am
Yes, this is a very sad series of crimes that we all have to deal with. But if the border patrol caught this pervert in the first place. or ICE detectected the undocumented worker and deported him, he would be in a mexican prison. His son wouldnt be an American citizen, and Sierra Lemar would be alive and well with her family.
J. Conseco July 18, 2012 at 07:53 am
DeAnna L. Silva Noia-Blase, My relatives came to this country legally and with clear heads on their shoulders. They worked hard to better themselves and more importantly the United States of America. Let it be known that crybaby worthless imports will be dealt with.
Pete Arballo July 19, 2012 at 08:21 pm
These two belong (father and son) do deserve to be "lumped" together. They also deserved to be in prison together. And futhermore, while there, deserve to be humped together by the bigger, tougher and even more sexually perverse inmates!
This is Pete's opinion, and it is a good one! hah
cristina July 31, 2012 at 03:00 pm
i think everyone needs to think about the family.....
Pete Arballo August 1, 2012 at 11:40 pm
Whose family? The one the father ruined or the other family (LaMar) that the son ruined? Everyone is thinking about these families - that is why we all have so much to say.
Christina November 24, 2012 at 12:12 pm
