Firefighters Demonstrate Safety at Kids Day Camp

Six youngsters started their first day at summer camp with a visit from the Milpitas Fire Department.

Six youngsters at Summitpointe Golf Club were taught fire safety by members of the Milpitas Fire Department. The enthusiastic campers learned how to recognize a dangerous situation and then to cope with it.

The firefighters also showed the campers the truck and equipment. The campers were astonished to learn that firefighters carry nearly 47 pounds of gear on their backs.

This is the first year Summitpointe Golf Club is offering a summer camp dedicated to only activities, instead of just golf. The program is headed by Sari Mitchell, who said the visit was a high point of the camp.
