Garbage Truck on I-880 Shuts Down Connector Ramp to Hwy 237

A garbage truck on fire shut down a lane to the highway.

A garbage truck on fire on northbound Interstate Highway 880 in Milpitas has shut down a lane of the highway and a connector ramp to state Highway 237 this morning, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

The fire on the back of the truck was reported at 9:53 a.m. A Sig-alert was issued at 10:17 a.m. after the truck pulled over on the right-hand side of I-880, according to CHP Officer James Evans.

Highway 237 remains open, however the ramp to access the roadway is closed from northbound I-880, according to the CHP.

Evans said the closure is expected to continue until about 11:15 a.m.
