Gilroy Police Arrest Milpitas Homicide Suspect

Antonio Guerrero, 19, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for the suspected murder of David Benavidez, 18, in October.

On Saturday, Gilroy police arrested a Milpitas man suspected of a October 2011 homicide, said Milpitas police officer Trish Young on Tuesday.

On October 15 at 1:08 a.m., Milpitas police arrived in the 500 block of Health Street on reports of a gunshot in the area. They found a male victim with a gunshot wound, later identified as Milpitas resident David Benavidez, 18, on the 400 block of Chestnut Ave. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Within days of the shooting, Milpitas police identified Antonio Guerrero, 19, of Milpitas as a suspect in the shooting.

“Milpitas police actively searched for Guerrero, but Guerrero avoided capture,” said Young.

After Gilroy police located him, he was booked into Santa Clara County for the homicide.
