High-Speed Chase Raced Through Milpitas

Man led CHP on pursuit down 680.

A teenager was arrested Thursday after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed chase that began in Walnut Creek, came through Milpitas on 680 and ended in Cupertino.

The CHP received a report of a reckless driver at Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek at 12:54 p.m., Officer D.J. Sarabia said.

Officers located the driver, a male juvenile, at 1:13 p.m. driving south on Highway 680 near Andrade Road in Sunol, according to the CHP.

The chase continued at speeds of between 90 and 115 mph until the driver sideswiped two cars, rear-ended another and hit the center divider on northbound Interstate Highway 280 just south of De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino, Sarabia said.

Officers arrested the suspect and determined that the car he had been driving was reported stolen out of Walnut Creek.

No injuries were reported as a result of the chase or crash.

Two lanes of northbound Highway 280 just south of De Anza Boulevard remained blocked as of 2:30 p.m. as CHP officers conducted an investigation.
