A woman was home and called police when a man tried to break into her house at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday.
Milpitas Police arrested Jason Anthony Gibbons, 38, of Milpitas, later that evening after a woman on the 60 block of Woodland Court called police to tell them she saw a man breaking into her garage, according to reports.
The woman told dispatchers she saw a suspicious person standing inside her gated front courtyard. When he forced his way into the garage's screen door, the woman walked into the garage and yelled. Gibbons fled, according to police reports.
About 7:12 p.m., a resident on the 100 block of Woodland Way called police to report a man had broken the gate to the resident's back yard and tried to open a screen door in the back of the home, according to reports. The man fled when he couldn't open the door, the second caller said. Both callers gave similar descriptions of the suspect.
Milpitas police responded and searched the neighborhood. Gibbons was found hiding in bushes in the greenbelt between the two residences. He matched the descriptions given by the two callers and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, according to reports.
Gibbons was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on charges of burglary, attempted burglary, being under the influence of a controlled substance and a parole hold.
