Man Hits Woman With Handgun During Attempted Robbery

Milpitas Police are searching for the suspect.

Milpitas Police are searching for a suspect who struck a woman in the head with a handgun while he struggled to grab her purse on Ranch Drive Friday. 

According to the police log, the attempted burglary occurred at 6:05 p.m. April 5 at 301 Ranch Drive near Walmart in the McCarthy Ranch shopping center. 

The Milpitas Post reports that a 54-year-old woman was approached by a man in the parking lot who asked her for money. The suspect grabbed for her purse and a struggle ensued. The suspect then hit the woman on the head with a handgun before fleeing, according to the Milpitas Post.

The suspect was driven by a woman in a black two-door sedan. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 17-23 years old, between 5'3" and 5'5" tall and between 115-125 pounds, the Post reports

Also at this shopping center, thieves have targeted cars recently, police report.
