Smoke could be seen over a mile away from a house fire that broke out on Rose Drive in Milpitas this afternoon.
At 1:39 p.m. today, March 19, firefighters battled a blaze in a single-family residence at 149 Rose Drive, half a mile from Thomas Russell Middle School. The fire was contained shortly after firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported, according to the Milpitas Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived, they found outdoor furniture burning in the backyard. A portion of the house's exterior was also damaged in the fire, as well as the telephone, cable and power lines leading to the house.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
