Fortunately, the female victim was later found, but Haile remained at large. An arrest warrant for kidnapping and false imprisonment was issued for Haile, and Union City Police distributed a "Be On the Lookout" broadcast for Haile with his description and details of his vehicle to nearby police departments.

On Thursday, April 19, members of the Milpitas Special Investigations Unit spotted Haile's vehicle, a 2001 Audi A6, in the parking lot of the Best Value Inn on S. Main Street in Milpitas.

The detectives began conducting surveillance, and spotted a subject matching the description of Haile on the balcony near a second-floor hotel room.

Milpitas police officers responded to the area and quickly set up a perimeter around the hotel.  As officers attempted to make contact with Haile at the hotel room, Haile jumped out of a rear second-story window and began running through an adjacent business parking lot.

Perimeter units quickly spotted Haile and detained him at gunpoint. He was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

Haile was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for his outstanding warrants and the Union City Police Department was notified of his capture.
