Milpitas Police Bust Local Marijuana Growing Operation

A routine traffic stop led Milpitas Police to discover a local home with a large marijuana growing operation.

On Nov. 29 at 7:07 p.m., Milpitas police officers on patrol stopped a 2004 Lexus in the area of E. Calaveras and N. Gadsen avenues for a routine traffic violation. The driver was 28-year-old John Thanh Vo, a Fremont resident.

As the officers spoke with Vo during the routine traffic stop, Vo consented to let officers search his vehicle.

Upon searching the trunk of the car, the officers found "a large quantity of marijuana," according to Sgt. Raj Maharaj.

Further investigation led police to a home in the 2100 block of Pedro Avenue. A search of the house yielded "multiple pounds of marijuana, hundreds of marijuana plants, and equipment used to cultivate marijuana," Sgt. Maharaj described.

The marijuana and cultivation equipment were seized as evidence, and Vo was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales, and transportation of marijuana.
