Monday Night Fire at Mr. P's Mini Mart

New owner of convenience store faces setbacks after the interior of the building and merchandise are damaged by fire.

Milpitas firefighters responded to a fire at a Mr. P's Mini Mart off North Main Street at around 9 p.m. Monday.

The damage caused by the fire was "primarily confined to the interior of the structure," said Rick Frawley, acting battalion chief.Β Β

An attendant at , next door to Mr. P's Mini Mart, said he closed up shop around 8:30 p.m. and did not see anything suspicious.

The cause is most likely electrical, said Eric Emmanuele, the primary fire investigator for the department. There were several heat sources, he said.

He did not see any signs of arson, he said.

The Fremont Fire Department battalion chief arrived with a fire truck for mutual aid assistance but was released after 20 minutes, said Frawley.

The Fremont Fire Department also sent a fire engine to cover one of the Milpitas stations as back-up while Milpitas firefighters were responding to the emergency.

Milpitas police were also at the scene for perimeter control.
